New Roles function in HardcatWeb expands flexibility

15 December 2009

Hardcat is excited to announce a new 'Roles' feature for the latest HardcatWeb application that enables the administrator of a Hardcat system to tailor the user experience by job role.

A user can log into the web interface and have their available output options (including options to view or print records, or export record lists to spreadsheet) tailored to suit their user role. While different users may be seeing the same asset or work order records within a reporting output, the specific details they see for those records are tailored to their job role. For example, a service technician could access a job list that facilitates rapid prioritised response to job requests, a service manager will be presented with details on turnaround and productivity of the service team, and a finance manager will be presented with reporting information on operational expenditure associated with the completed jobs.

Individual users are simply associated to a role and then automatically inherit HardcatWeb settings associated with that role. The new Roles function integrates with Hardcat Domain Control (which allows administrators to limit record access to only those relevant to the user's Work Group) and as well as individual User Security options, creating a powerful array of options for record access and presentation.

Hardcat offers Intrinsically Safe asset tracking solution for hazardous environments

30 October 2009

In response to demand from its customers in the mining and chemical industries, Hardcat has ported its highly regarded portable asset tracking and asset auditing solution to the Intermec CK32 I-Safe portable computer, which meets stringent certifications (UL, ATEX, IECEx) for safe operation areas with flammable gases, vapours and liquids where conventional electronic devices are banned.

The CK32IS device is now supported by the powerful Hardcat CatScan mobile asset management software application, which allows a wide range of asset activities to be recorded “in the field”, from receipting assets being delivered from a purchase order, to regular calibrations, safety inspections, audits, scheduled and reactive maintenance works, through to recording transfers and flagging items for disposal. Now that these transactions can be recorded on the CK32IS device, asset management operations in hazardous environments can be significantly streamlined for greater accuracy and efficiency of recording and reporting.
